-weather meteorologist jim dickey to tell us more, jim? >> yeah, good evening, harris, this storm incredible yelled. rapidly striking its way up the coast and brought a swath of snow. and up to 20 inches from the storm and now across the region, not much to look at, but it isn't telling the full story and the pressure off the coast, and bringing in cold air and gusty winds. when you factor in the wind, the real-feel, minus 2 in portland and temperatures will fall here, cold ones, especially in new england and fall to 5 in burlington, down to a cold 9 in portland. like you said, winter is here to stay and of course, we're already looking for our next snowstorm here and new year's eve watching a large system drift out of the four corners out of the southern tier of the rockies, bringing soaking rain across the lower mississippi valley and a swath of snow from the central and southern plains into the ohio valley and not the snow maker we just saw or the predecessor of that storm either. still, decent snow in some spots and especially into kansas through the afternoon, through the morning here, and tha

, jim, and i had a chance to visit troops in afghanistan on three separate occasions, meeting them in challah halls, carriers, and helicopters, those enthusiastic young men and women yet to be born when neil walked on the moon were mesmerized by his presence. in a typical neil fashion, he would always walk in, introduce himself, as if they did not know who he was, shaked each and every hand, and he would always give them, "hey. how are you guys doing?" as one increase of the marine, "mr. armstrong, why are you here?" neil's thoughtful and sincerely honest reply was "because you are here." he was special to these young kids and to a few older ones, as well. deeply proud to be a navy aviator, as a civilian at the time he flew, neil never received his astronaut wings. it was a tradition of those in the military. it was on the uss eisenhower back on 2010 on our way to afghanistan that we finally received -- that he'd received the tribute that he deserved. his visibly, visibly moved response said it all, and i quote, "i have never been more proud than when i earned my navy wings of gold

out here 24 hours ago, jim, the street behind me was a illuminated with emergency vehicles. tonight, traffic is moving smoothly and lot of folks would say back to normal. that is until you look at the side of the road. that's when you will notice a memorial set up will. it is a reminder of the life lost. a cross and flowers mark the side of yesterday's fiery crash. officer chris yung had his motorcycle lights and siren on. he was headed to another accident when his cruiser slammed into this van. the driver of the sxran her passenger walked away from the crash unharmed. across the county fellow officers are remembering. the shrouded cruiser and motorcycle sit outside the garfield district station in woodbridge. >> these are memorials that the public can come and leave flowers if they like and cards if they would like. it is a way of showing we are mourning. >> reporter: he knew officer yung well. >> one of the best guys on the department. he always had a smile. and always had a very optimistic point of view on everything. >> reporter: it has been more than 20 years since prince willi

of the democrats who voted no is virginia congressman jim moran who's with me now. thank you for being here. charles krauthammer said on the right this was a route for the ds. you disagree. >> normally when the far right and far left are in agreement, the middle makes the most sense. but not in this case. i think this is a very bad long-term deal for democratic priorities and thus for the president. because what we did was to take $3.9 trillion off the table permanently and set up three more fiscal cliffs over the next three months. the sequester, the debt ceiling, then the expiration of the appropriations bills. which will happen in march. and what it does is to say we will never bring in more than 15% of gdp. but we have never had a robust economy when federal spending wasn't about 20% of gdp. because you need that investment in research and innovation and education and skills training and so on. and what's going to happen is that interest on the debt is going to be greater than any of the programs that provide that kind of seed corn investment in our children's future. so that's what we
